Well I heard about the England team they just told everyone who is playing. Ben Stokes is in charge obviously. Me I think its gonna be a real close game. The first test is in Perth which is a fast ground.
They picked twelve guys for the first part of the ashes. Jofra Archer being back is a big thing for everyone were looking at. Him and Mark Wood both bowls seriously quick. Then theres Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse whom are also there.
The wicketkeeper is Jamie Smith which is a choice they made. I find the spinner Shoaib Bashir an interesting one for them to choose. He hasn’t played much but Stokes seems to like him a lot. His height is different than other spinners.
Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett will probably start the batting. Then comes Ollie Pope and Joe Root which is a very strong part. Harry Brook hits the ball very hard in the middle. The coach McCullum says they have to be aggressive which is their way.
We all know how important the first test can be for setting the tone. The atmosphere here is already getting loud. Fans from both sides are filling up the hotels. I’m excited to see how it all starts on Friday morning.
Its one of the biggest rivalries there is in any sport. I feel like England brought a squad with both pace and some spin. They have to be ready for anything the pitch does. A spokesperson said they picked people who can do well in Australia.
Perth Stadium is gonna be completely full I reckon. The organizing people said everything is ready to go. Its more than just cricket its like a whole event. I’m just hoping for a good contest to begin the series.
Honestly the weather report says it’s meant to be really hot and sunny for all five days. That should make the pitch even quicker as the match goes on I think. Which is good if you likes fast bowling like I do. Me personally I can’t wait to see Archer steaming in.
I was talking to a fan earlier whom said he thought the selection was a bit surprising. He wasn’t sure about leaving out some other players. But then you can’t never please everyone with these things. The selectors they sees something we might not.
The ball here in Perth, it can sometimes swing around in the morning. Which would be helpful for someone like Brydon Carse maybe. Then as it gets old, the spinners might come into it more. That’s where Bashir could have his moment.
My own feeling is that the team has a good mix of guys who are excited and guys who have been there before. Joe Root’s experience in these conditions is so valuable for the younger players like Harry Brook. Its not something you can really measure.
There’s also the whole thing about how the pitch might be prepared. The groundsman was on the radio saying he wants a good contest between bat and ball. But you never knows what you’re gonna get until the first morning really. I hope it doesn’t just break up straight away.
From a fitness perspective, managing the bowlers is going to be absolutely crucial for Stokes. You can’t have your main guys getting tired in that first innings. So having Gus Atkinson to share the load is probably a smart thing to do. I hopes they all stays fit.
Ultimately, the first session on that first day will tell us so much about how the series will go. If England’s openers can see off the new ball, it builds a platform. If Australia takes early wickets, the pressure is right on. Me, I’m just ready for some cricket.
