Just saw the game Friday night. Honestly, what a mess it was from where I’m sitting. Harry Wilson goes and wins it for Fulham almost at the end, and you could just feel everything falling apart for Chelsea right then.
Their new guy, Liam Rosenior, had to watch it all from up in the box. Can’t imagine a worse way to start. The fans who traveled were just so angry, singing these really rough songs about the owner. It’s all gone a bit wrong, hasn’t it?
Then Chelsea had a player get a red card. Cucurella, I think. Was just before half time and it really didn’t help anything. After that, a few more players got booked for arguing. Just felt like the whole thing was slipping away.
Fulham scored after half time. Jiménez with a header. That’s when the real booing started proper. People are just not believing in what the owners are doing anymore, you can tell. Since the last manager left it’s been so messy.
Chelsea did get a goal back, though. A bit of a scramble and Delap put it in. But nobody really calmed down in the stands. There was even a big sign saying the owners should sell. It’s a bad feeling right now.
Fulham just seemed smarter. Their manager, Silva, uses these older players other teams didn’t want and it works. Jiménez is scoring again. They just know how to handle a game.
At the very end, Wilson was just too clever. Went past a defender and scored. A really nice goal, actually. For us, it was a big win.
For Chelsea, Rosenior starts properly next game. But what he’s taking over… it’s not good. They’re eighth now. Only won one of their last nine. After watching tonight, I don’t know. He’s got a huge job. A really, really huge job. Friday showed him exactly what it is.
Yeah, the whole thing just sat with me after. Walking out the stadium, you could still hear Chelsea fans arguing by the buses. Not even about the red card, really, but about everything—like where all the money actually goes. It’s a different kind of tired when you’re angry and also just expecting it now.
You kinda feel for Rosenior, thrown in like that. I remember him playing, he always seemed a thoughtful sort. Now his first real day at work is cleaning up a spill that’s been spreading for months. How do you even start talking to a team that just watched their own fans give up on them?
Funny thing is, Fulham didn’t even play that flash. They were just…older. Wiser. Like they’ve seen this film before and knew when to press pause. There’s a lesson there, about teams and time. Silva has them believing they’re supposed to be here, which is half the battle won already, I think.
Makes you wonder what happens next. Chelsea’s not a club that waits. But this feels bigger than a manager. It’s like the whole idea of the club is lost somewhere. Rosenior’s first job isn’t tactics, it’s finding that idea again. And after Friday night, good luck to him. Truly.
