Sure we was completely amazing on the pitch that night. I just feel like the noise, it was something else honestly. A proper statement we made against Barcelona, winning 3-0. Me, I couldn’t believe how good Estevao played, he’s just a kid really.
From my view, the plan from the manager worked an absolute treat. Pressing high from the start, it was the key for us. Moises Caicedo, he said we believed in ourselves which is true. Enzo Fernandez, he had the ball in the net twice but VAR said no, which was tough.
Then their guy Kounde, he just kicked it into his own net by accident. A real bit of luck for us. And getting their captain sent off before half, that was huge. Me, I thought the game changed completely then.
In the second half, we was all over them with the extra man. Estevao’s goal, wow, what a hit that was. Cutting inside and then, bang, top corner. Liam Delap, he gets his first for the club, a simple tap-in from Enzo’s pass. He was so happy after.
Looking at the player ratings, Robert Sanchez in goal didn’t have much to do. Cucurella and Reece James, they was both great. But Enzo and Estevao, they was on another level for me. The subs did well too, Delap scoring and Santos nearly did but was offside.
Seeing the academy lads like Josh and Tyrique come on, it makes you proud. Their manager admitted we was the better team, even before the red card. For me, this win puts everyone in Europe on notice. Our future, it looks so bright with these young players.
The atmosphere itself, it had this weight to it before we even started. You could just tell something special was happening, the way the crowd was so loud from the beginning.
Honestly, when Araujo got that red card, the whole feeling on the pitch it changed immediately. For us, it became more about being patient then, not forcing things too much.
There’s this moment where Enzo, he just keeps driving forward with the ball no matter what. His energy, it’s contagious for the rest of us, making everyone want to run more.
Seeing Liam Delap score, it made me really happy for him. A striker like him, they just lives for those tap-ins, it must feel amazing to get your first in a game like this.
Some of the Barcelona players, their body language was not good after the third goal went in. You could see they was already thinking about the next match, their heads had dropped completely.
The manager his instructions at halftime, they was mostly about controlling the game and not getting complacent. He warned us that a team with ten men can sometimes be more dangerous, they have nothing to lose.
Walking off the pitch at the end, my legs they felt like jelly but in a good way. That mix of being exhausted but also full of energy from the win, it’s a strange feeling.
For the future, this match it feels like a real turning point, like people will see us different now. Not just as a young team, but as a team that can actually win the whole thing.
