Arsenal have been crowned champions of England once again after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw away to Bournemouth, sealing the North London club’s first Premier League title since 2004.

The result officially ended Arsenal’s 22-year wait to return to the summit of English football, bringing back memories of the legendary “Invincibles” side led by Arsène Wenger.

Inside Arsenal’s training base in Hertfordshire, the players and coaching staff gathered together to watch City’s decisive match unfold. As soon as the final whistle sounded on the south coast, celebrations erupted among the squad. Declan Rice quickly shared a photo on Instagram alongside Kai Havertz, Eberechi Eze, Bukayo Saka, Myles Lewis-Skelly and William Saliba.

The England international added a pointed message to the post, referencing comments he made after Arsenal’s defeat to City earlier in the campaign. “I told you all… it’s done,” Rice wrote, having previously insisted the title race was still alive.

Videos circulating online captured emotional scenes from within Arsenal’s camp. Players and staff sang together while celebrating the achievement, while Eze was spotted dancing on top of a table as the atmosphere intensified. The squad later continued festivities away from the training ground.

On the club’s official channels, Arsenal paid tribute to manager Mikel Arteta, declaring that the Spaniard had secured his place among the greatest figures in the club’s history. At 44, Arteta becomes the second-youngest coach to win the Premier League title, with only José Mourinho having achieved the feat at a younger age during Chelsea’s 2005 triumph.

The celebrations also featured a special appearance from Wenger himself. In a video shared by Arsenal, the iconic former manager raised a glass of red wine before delivering a brief message to supporters and players alike.

“Champions go on when others stop,” Wenger said. “Now go on and enjoy every moment.”

Arteta Completes Arsenal’s Revival

The title marks another major milestone in Arteta’s impressive transformation of Arsenal since he replaced Unai Emery in December 2019.

After finishing second in each of the previous three seasons, Arsenal once again found themselves locked in a fierce battle with Manchester City. At one stage, the Gunners held a commanding nine-point advantage before City reignited the race with a crucial win at the Etihad Stadium.

Memories of previous disappointments threatened to resurface, yet Arsenal responded when the pressure peaked. What effectively became a five-match sprint between the two contenders ultimately swung in Arsenal’s favour.

City stumbled first after dropping points against Everton, while Arsenal maintained perfect momentum. Four straight victories without conceding a goal ensured Arteta’s side stayed ahead, with Monday’s narrow 1-0 success over Burnley proving decisive.

Fans Celebrate Across North London

Supporters had already begun gathering around pubs close to the Emirates Stadium before kickoff at Bournemouth, hoping for a favour from the home side. Once City’s draw was confirmed, scenes of celebration spread rapidly through North London.

Thousands of fans poured into the streets outside the Emirates within minutes of the result, with chants echoing around the stadium as fireworks lit up the night sky. Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright was among those seen enjoying the historic occasion alongside supporters.

The Premier League trophy presentation will take place on Sunday at Selhurst Park after Arsenal’s final match of the season against Crystal Palace.

Arteta’s achievements may not stop there. Once Pep Guardiola officially departs City following a decade in charge, the Arsenal boss is expected to become the longest-serving manager across England’s top four divisions.

There is also the possibility of an even greater finish to the campaign. Arsenal now turn their focus toward the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on 30 May, with the chance to complete a historic league and European double.

Only five English clubs have managed to win both the top-flight title and the European Cup in the same season. Coincidentally, City were the last side to accomplish that achievement back in 2023.
